<dc:description>This two-volume book presents cutting-edge archaeological research, primarily as practiced in the Eastern Mediterranean region. These volumes’ key foci are inspired by the work of Thomas E. Levy. Volume 1 provides an in-depth look at new archaeological research in the southern Levant (primarily in modern Israel and Jordan) inspired by Levy’s commitment to understanding social, political, and economic processes in a long-term or “deep time” perspective. Volume 2 focuses on new research in several key areas of 21st century anthropological archaeology and archaeological science. Volume 1 is organized around two major themes: 1) the later prehistory of the southern Levant, or the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, and Bronze Age, and 2) new research in biblical archaeology, or the historical archaeology of the Iron Age. Each section contains a combination of new perspectives on key debates and studies introducing new research questions and directions. Volume 2 is organized around fivemajor themes: 1) the archaeology of the Faynan copper ore district of southern Jordan, a key region for archaeometallurgical research in West Asia where Levy conducted field research for over a decade, 2) new research in archaeometallurgy beyond the Faynan region, 3) marine and maritime archaeology, focusing on issues of trade and environmental change, 4) cyber-archaeology, an important 21st century field Levy conceived as “the marriage of archaeology, engineering, computer science, and the natural sciences,” and 5) key issues in anthropological archaeological theory. In addition to presenting the reader with an up-to-date view of research in each of these areas, the volume also has chapters exploring the connections between these themes, e.g. the maritime trade of metals and cyber-/digital archaeological approaches to metallurgy. The work contains contributions from both up-and-coming early career researchers and key established figures in their fields. This book is an essential reference for archaeologists and scholars in related disciplines working in the southern Levant and the Eastern Mediterranean.</dc:description>

<dc:description>This book offers the first book-length study of user-generated, social media-based true crime content. The book considers the large and varied true crime community, outlining their at times contradictory needs and desires, from those who wish to partake in acts of sleuthing and fannish behaviours, to those who seek spaces to articulate marginalised opinions and challenge ethically problematic practices. The collection is divided into three sections: “The Ethics of Watching and Doing,” which concerns the ethical pitfalls of true crime content on social media; “Participatory Culture,” which deals with the acts of participatory culture that define not only contemporary true crime fandom but also nearly all digitally-based fan activities; and “True Crime Communities,” which considers the enthusiasts who both consume true crime and seek out others online to share their interests. This book will appeal to those researching the true crime genre, fan practices, contemporary social media usage and the ethics of screened representation. Dr Simon Hobbs is a Senior Lecturer in Visual Culture at the University of Portsmouth, UK. His research areas include true crime, extreme art cinema, fandom, and material culture. He is the author of Cultivating Extreme Art Cinema: Text, Paratext and Home Video Culture (2018). Dr Megan Hoffman is an independent scholar. Her research interests include crime fiction, true crime, popular culture and gender studies. She is the author of Gender and Representation in British 'Golden Age' Crime Fiction: Women Writing Women (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).</dc:description>

<dc:subject>Introduction</dc:subject>
<dc:coverage>From algorithms to sensors, digitalisation encompasses a variety of technological innovations. Equally multifaceted are the dimensions in which it transforms society and is shaped by it at the same time. Thre are effects on communication in the public sphere, on science and agriculture, as well as the interactions with law, the economy and ecology the contributors to this volume explore these and other aspects of digitalisation from various theoretical perspectives. In doing so, they open up perspectives that allow digitalisation to be understood and explained as socio-technical change.</dc:coverage>
